The Academy is the teaching side of Venezia Photo. It grew out of the festival, which has run seven editions on the island of San Servolo and has welcomed Steve McCurry, Peter Lindbergh, Albert Watson, Martin Parr and Oliviero Toscani, among others.
How we teach
- Small groups. Sessions are kept small enough that everyone gets real attention.
- A working photographer leads each session — someone who makes pictures for a living, not a lecturer.
- The city is the classroom. The lagoon at dawn, the markets, the backstreets most visitors never reach. Time in the field, then editing together.
Formats run from two to four days. Some are open to individual photographers; others are built privately for a club, a school or a company.
